Wondrous Wednesdays: a little bath art…

A couple of months ago, we completed the heftier redo work on our upstairs baths—new floors, new toilets and a fresh paint job. Fluffy towels, tub mats, curtains and shades added some ambience but the walls have cried out for some artwork! One must take care for what is placed on a wall of a room that is treated to humidity on a daily basis. We just did not want the same old bathroom “stuff”, so I scoured Pinterest for ideas. There is a world of cute ideas for bathroom spaces that service households with younger children, but that is not our lot in life right now. I continued to scroll through and finally found something we could sink our teeth into: framed fabric art.

[Listen closely for the “duh” thud at this point…]

I am a fiber fabric nut–why this idea had not occurred to me sooner, I’ve not a clue, but I glommed onto the concept.

I   visited a local interior shop—Serendipity—and discovered a framed piece of soft turquoise with a gold design that was perfect for our Master Bath:

The next stop was Mood Fabric’s website—I ordered some fabrics for both baths. I also popped into Joann Fabrics where I happened upon the perfect accompaniment for the piece from Serendipity. A saunter through Kohl’s netted me some interesting frames and I was ready to create!

The other day, I began cutting and stitching and came up with some eye pleasing designs that will help bring a completion to at least one of our baths. The grey bathroom will receive a similar treatment. Those pics will be coming in a few weeks….

Enjoy and have a wondrous Wednesday!

I am a fabric artist and a professional minister in the Catholic Church. I am married for 40+ years to a most fabulous man. We have 4 adult children, 2 daughter-in-laws ( who we also consider to our children!) and 4 grandbabies. I love to weave, paint silk, sew and design garments for myself; bead, read, write and color. I am also a spiritual Companion/Director and have a special place in my soul for women who are healing and in need of healing from trauma and abuse. I love coffee, quiet reflective prayer time at my kitchen table and long walks to breathe in the Holy Spirit. I would like to learn how to spin yarn and will someday create a spun, hand dyed/painted, beaded, woven fabulous garment of peace!
